先月？読み終わった本、The Lord of the Rings の感想です。
この本は3部作なので３冊に分かれているのですが、 Aki が読んだ本は 「3 冊を 1 冊に収めてありますバージョン」です。解説などを含めると 1000ページになります。
映画としても有名なこの作品ですが、Aki は全く予備知識もなく読み始めました。
登場人物がとにかく多く、ガイドブック的な本を買ったり、YouTube でキャラクターのイメージを掴んだりしながら読み進めました。
あらすじ
ホビット族のフロッドは、ある不思議な指輪を授かります。
そして言われます。
「この指輪はやばいやつ。この世に存在すると世界が混沌。基本何しても壊せんでマグマん中ぶち込んでこい。」
感想
約 70 年ほど前に書かれた作品であり、現代の作品のような読みやすさはありません。
文体も非常に難解であり、その世界観を表現するため、特に喋り言葉では独特な文法も用いられています。
フィクション（特に SF）の魅力は、その作品の世界に浸り、自分の頭の中に描かれるストーリーに没頭できることだと思います。
この作品を読んでいると、途中からセリフが踊りだしてくることがあります（この作品に限りませんが）。
ドワーフやエルフが話している言葉も、独特な言葉で話されているからこそ頭に心地よく響いてきます。
繊細な背景描写も、物語を暗く、重く引き立てていきます。
全体的に作品には暗さを感じさせます。
物語全体を覆っている薄暗さが、時折訪れる明るい話を一層引き立たせます。
物語を全て読み終わり、「ファンタジーって凄いな」と誰にでも浮かびそうな感想が自然と出てきました。

My book review today is about "The Lord of the Rings" by JRR Tolkien.
This everyone-knows-the-title book was listed as one of favorite books of Elon Musk, which was an enough reason for me to have a look at it.
I haven't even watched the movie, so I simply knew nothing about the story.
Story
"Frodo, destroy the ring"
In a usually story, they go adventures to obtain something, beat someone evil, or become No.1 by acquiring something:
- Harry Potter beats Voldemort
- Goku wants to become stronger
- Elon Musk wants to go to the Mars
If you put "the ring", you could get a power to control/dominate the world (with a huge risk). Once you put the ring, you are strongly and forcefully attracted to the ring.
The existence itself of the ring endangers the world....
Frodo brings piece to the world by destroying the own power.
He brings the ring as a neckless, meaning that if he wants, he can put the ring whenever.....
There are 2 heros in this adventure:
Frodo: A small, normal, and peaceful guy, leaving his precious village to destroy the ring.
Aragorn: A super hero guy, born from royalty.
Strength Frodo possesses differs from what is usually thought to be.
Darkness illuminates the story, and brightness veils the story as well....
Light and dark.
Read the story. You are soon absorbed into the world—Middle earth.
